Superelevating contemporain-facade
With this experience we faced with the issue of reuse and expansion of existing buildings. The site is located in an area rich in valuable architectural interventions.
The design constraints were keeping the facade facing the main road and the abutment of raising at the level of the eaves of the nearest building.
The project interprets the theme of superelevation in a radical way and the choice is deliberately to stand out respect to the existing. The small piece added to the facade declared to belong to a different period than the pre-existence.
The architectural language search other references in the context, quickly identified and elaborated. Abandoning the brick used in the reference building in order to adopt an aluminum coating which becomes a skin that incorporates roofing, avoiding heat bridges thanks to continuous external insulation.
