We are Enrico Molineri, Francesco Miacola and Luca Ollino. We want to launch a social enterprise for the transfer of technology to developing countries. The first step is to realize a well working with solar energy.

 

Inspired by the principles of social business, we transfer technology to those communities who have difficulty in accessing it. We work hand-in-hand with the local communities, anthropologists and experts from various fields to find the best technological solution that will improve the lives of people. We do so by respecting the traditions and the ecosystem. 

We develop sustainable business plans and encourage the people involved in the project to become autonomous in managing the activities. In turn, they create other social enterprises.

 

Our first project is a well built in Guatemala (november 2014) in the community of Flora Costa Cuca with a population of around 28,000 people. The 40% of this community does not have basic services (water and electricity), and furthermore, those who do have access to electricity cannot afford the electricity consumption.

 

We have opened a crowdfunding campaign which in two months has gathered half of the budget of purchase and transport of the material.

 

We have already presented a proposal to mayor Natanael Tito Vasquez, that consists in installing a pump operating with solar panels. Once the demonstration of this well takes place, Mr. Tito will get investments from Banco de América Central and funding to install additional wells. The solar energy wells are vital to communities having no electricity and having to walk several kilometers to collect water from rivers. There are equally important to that part of the population who cannot afford to pay the electricity bill.
